About Organizational Citizenship

Why organizational citizenship? Because “Leadership” is a complex word, and with thousands of definitions and pre-conceived notions, leadership is only as good as it can be applied both effectively and consistently. Indeed, our management might be sound, but leadership must be able to occur from every level. Yet, with so many definitions of leadership, how can we agree to speak the same language – a common vocabulary of effectiveness.

To be a citizen is to enter into a community with the intent of leaving it better than when found. No matter one’s background, we all understand the concept of community and being a citizen within. This is the platform - the philosophy - from which we will help your organization maximize its human capital.

It is clear that our organizations fare better when leadership occurs at every level, not just the top or in designated “leadership positions.” Research shows, in fact, that as companies, we are more likely to hire a candidate with a greater understanding and practice in leadership than experience or academic pedigree alone. We do this because we know our organizations are at their best when everyone is able to contribute at their highest capacity.

We specialize in paradigm-shifts: creating opportunities and new ways of thinking for your organization to look inward, move forward, and to be both more effective and productive.

About Us

Kevin A. Smith is the founder and principle consultant for Introspective Consulting, LLC.

Working professionally in higher education provides a distinct advantage to any group or individual who selects us as their partner. Higher Education is where new knowledge is constantly created, tested, and then consumed by both business and non-profit sectors. We are highly skilled in analysis, research, and assessment and evaluation.

Our key philosophy is usability. We construct and offer our services with this simple philosophy in mind: that once we work with you or your organization, our impact will be a lasting one.

Organizational Citizenship is our philosophy of leadership and leadership training. Leadership can and should occur from every level. Yet, in order to be effective, it needs to be presented in such a way where every participant can see her or his self as an effective contributor.

Leadership

  • Can be taught
  • Can be learned
  • Is about creating an environment where every person can be successful
  • Is different from "leader"
  • Creates organizations with effective "citizens" who contribute from every level for the betterment of the whole
