Resilience in the Work Place/ Emotional Intelligence

One of the most important assets to a successful organization is its ability to plan for succession. One of the most common inhibitors to this asset is “derailment”, and often, our colleagues simply are not aware of the nuances that lead this threat to their success.

Derailment occurs when a person who is “on the road to success” and promotion, is instead fired, demoted, or “plateaued” below expected levels of achievement. In many cases, derailment does not occur because of a lack of technical or educational skills. Rather, derailment is more frequently attributed to character flaws such as a lack of self-awareness, an inability to change, poor treatment of others, and problems with interpersonal relationships. By inventory strengths and assisting your teammates in discovering how those strengths can be translated into weakness, we can help members of your organization reduce unhealthy conflict and work to become more emotionally intelligent, and therefore more successful.
